Dodging Raindrops

Tonight the wind blows bitter cold
Arms tight, I fight to keep out the chill
Despite that it still takes a hold
And I'm sold to midnight's icy will

Yeah you can laugh in the face of danger
Get rough, rebuff when blizzards blow
But enough, you're just another stranger
Who'll change or, tough, you'll choke on snow

Sometimes I try to avoid life's problems
Like dodging raindrops in a hurricane
But it don't matter how hard I try
They always pour on down again
The answers wash away and hurts remain
I'm dodging raindrops in a hurricane

My heart gets swamped in the storms of life
Typhoons, monsoons, they fill the skies
Too soon I'm drowning in a sea of strife
Need a knife to cut the truth from lies

The rain comes down and I'm filled with regret
Can't leave, I grieve for the love that was lost
Deceived by the cost that you pay to forget
Now in debt I received from the kiss of the frost

Sometimes I try to avoid life's problems
Like dodging raindrops in a hurricane
But I can't get out, get dry, get free
Yeah this water's pounding on my brain
I need help before I go insane
I'm dodging raindrops in a hurricane

Then I saw a child in one fleeting glance
So thin her skin was like smoke on air
But she'd spin and twirl a winsome dance
A romance within that I want to share

See, this life ain't easy, no one said
Discard the rules just to get ahead
Work hard, get scarred to earn ya bread
Or get barred from the yard where the poor get fed

Sometimes I try to avoid life's problems
Like dodging raindrops in a hurricane
Then a starving girl taught me the truth
That the secret to escape life's pain
Comes with learning to dance in the rain
To embrace the winds of the hurricane

Yeah, I think a lot can relate! Glad to know you know what it feels like. This was from my very brief hip hop phase.
